The ideas for projects block out negative & nagging thoughts. My studio is my cosy space where I store things that i collect at junk sales for eventual projects... items include a stuffed crocodile, stones, dead spiders, tortoise shells & old boxes. I make the glue from corn starch- it's cheap, effective & harmless. The skeletons for my sculptures are made of twisted newspaper....which I then layer with the glue & more paper until it's rigid. If it all gets too floppy I have to leave it to dry for a day or so & then continue. Generally I use acrylique paints, coloured paper, water based varnish to finish.
